Hi Ladies,
Hope this blog of mine is visible!!
Yes! Design tool kit is very useful and it also has a workbook that we can use. I had mailed it to you. Will resend it.
I will be focusing on Contexts and Conflicts. Starts with the interrelationships between human and natural environments and will need to stage it through.
Social, Economical, Environmental and Political contexts and conflicts are the connecting points.
Need to think through further!

ReplyDeleteGrade 6 book Hoot fits in nicely with this theme as it is about a boys attempt to protest against a project that is coming up in an area which has endangered owls s- - context and conflicts
Achira the novel also has some middle school issues of fitting in and being different also bullying. So we can bring in the middle school issues here
Aditi - as you teach the food web can students maybe do a simple transact in the school garden to see what they observe and draw some connections. I will build on this at a later stage.
So if I could map my lessons for 12 weeks I could plug in these cross connections.
If you can do the same for your subjects and I can see where I can bring in mine.
Also can we all look at the sign toolkit and see if we can come up with a plan so that we can start working on executing it from June 2nd week. Also if we meet Geetha in May we could get our ideas sorted out further
ReplyDeleteI agree that the Design toolkit really gives us a detailed look at our "wicked problems" and if each of us fills it up as an exercise it will provide more clarity and helps us anticipate challenges. Also, if each of us looks into drafting a curriculum we can then see where we can make interdisciplinary connections relevant to a cubic curriculum.
